A New Jersey birder, Michael Costello, a member of the Montclair Hawk Watch group, drove up from NJ and birded Sax Zim today. He was elated, calling me to report the usual suspects. Most notable was a Hoary Redpoll he found mixed with a flock of 16 common Redpolls along Hwy 52, 1.3 miles west of Cotton, perched in Birch trees along the road.. He made positive ID, photographed it, and will send me what he gets when he develops it. He was driving back to NJ when he called me, so I agreed to post this for him.
