This morning Randy Fredrickson, his wife Jean, friends Dan, Dave and Lynn and I birded around the county and found 121 GREAT GRAY OWLS, 4 NORTHERN HAWK OWLS, 3 PINE GROSBEAKS, 4 BALD EAGLES, 2 ROUGH-LEGGED HAWKS, a small flock of SNOW BUNTINGS along C.R.24, a RUFFED GROUSE, 4 NORTHERN SHRIKES. The best roads to see the GGOs were C.R.1 (52 birds), C.R.24 (18 birds), C.R.5 south of the junction with highway 210 (19 birds). Other birds this weekend: the BOREAL OWL near McGregor (thanks to Cindy Butler Risen!!!) on Friday night, 2 BLACK-BILLED MAGPIES just south of Palisade, 3 other NORTHERN HAWK OWLS ( total of 7 birds this weekend --3 on C.R.1, 1 on C.R.24, 2 near Rosberg and 1 along C.R.5 just south of Palisade).
