This morning I went north of Aitkin on C.R.1 to check out the owls and found 5 SHARP-TAILED GROUSE dancing on their lek about 1 and 1/4 miles north of the diversion channel. What's interesting about this is that there were 29 GGOs around the field. Three of the owls were within about a hundred feet of the dancing grouse and not paying any attention to them at all and the grouse were doing their thing and weren't bothered by the owl's presence -- kind of a mutual disinterest. Also seen today: NORTHERN HARRIER, 9 BLACK-BILLED MAGPIES, SNOW BUNTINGS, 7 NORTHERN HAWK OWLS, 1 GREAT HORNED OWL and 104 GREAT GRAY OWLS. Warren Nelson
