I birded north of Aitkin this morning starting at about 6:15 A.M.and found the following: 78 Great Gray Owls (38 along C.R.1, 14 along C.R.24, 10 along C.R.21, the others spread around), 3 Northern Hawk Owls ( 2 along C.R.1 and 1 near Rossburg), 9 Sharp-tailed Grouse (dancing along C.R.1 about 1 & 1/4 miles north of the diversion channel), 6 Rough-legged Hawks, 3 Northern Harriers, 2 Red-tailed Hawks, 4 Northern Shrikes, 7 Bald Eagles, Snow Buntings.
