Westskyline Hawk Count has been up and running since 1 March. There has been small flight so far do to the cold temperatures and lack of open water but flight have been picking up and small kettle of eagles can be seen moving along the west skyline along with other species. Most surprising was a Turkey Vulture seen soaring with an adult Golden Eagle on the 22nd
Below you can view this month count which is up to date as of 24 March. You may also view the count on a daily basis at "HAWKCOUNT. ORG" and look for West Skyline. The only migrant landbirds seen from the lookout the past few days have been a handful of American Robins and a nice flight of 725 Bohemian Waxwings on the 23rd. There has been some local visitors coming out to view the raptor migration this week as well which is always nice to share the migration with. I would like to thank the MOU committee's and Hawk Ridge Bird Observatory for funding the count this year.
