My husband and I had an errand in Bruno this morning (Saturday) so I persuaded him to take a drive east of Kerrick to look for the northern hawk owl. We were successful, and had maybe a once in a lifetime opportunity to see it AND a great gray owl at the same time! They were maybe 50 yards away from each other, the great gray atop a tree on a ridge and the hawk owl in an alder on the edge of an open field. This was about 9:30 AM.
