Although reports of Great Gray Owls seem to have dropped off recently, there are still a lot around Carlton and Aitkin counties. On Saturday evening, Sarah and Dave Grosshuesch, Sharon Lind and I found 35 between Mahtowa and the Tamarack area. This was along portions of Carlton CR 6, and Aitkin CR 13, CR 16, and CR 31.
