Nathan & I ventured back to Aitkin County on Saturday, enjoyed the Snowy Owl along 450 along with numerous Pine Grosbeaks, single Pine Siskin, 45 Snow Buntings (CR 5), single Rough-legged Hawk (in Mille Lacs County while heading north on 169) and other winter fare. Missed both ST Grouse & BB Magpies, two of our target birds.
Interestingly, did not have a year bird on the day until going for groceries late that afternoon (three turkeys crossing the Rum River). Sometimes it doesn't pay to be intentional. Good birding. Al & Nathan Schirmacher Princeton, MN Mille Lacs & Sherburne Counties
