Civility would require a reasoned private conversation to allow the parties to become fully informed about each others' positions prior to publicizing any reaction, and then such publicity should take place in the appropriate forum only. This includes other persons taking positions on the original dispute as well. Such an approach may actually result in the desired outcome without ill feelings, instruct those involved about better tactics for future problem-solving and lay down helpful lines of communications.
