As suspected, the Vermillion River has flooded the fields just east of the Dakota C.R. 68 bridge over to Prairie Island (Goodhue Co.). It should improve for shore- and waterbirds in the days ahead as the water recedes. Today the only shorebirds were yellowlegs and pecs. There were numerous Bonaparte's Gulls and waterfowl, including 3 Snow Geese. Does anyone know if Mississippi River flooding has produced any shore- and waterbird habitat along Wabasha C.R. 24 ?
