To add to the ebird discussion: I attended a meeting today where the new Important Bird Area (IBA) along the Mississippi River from the Washington Avenue bridge in Mpls. down to Hastings, MN. was discussed. Having birders post all observations from that area on ebird would be an excellent way to monitor the use of the IBA by birds. Audubon Minnesota will probably designate specific areas they would like monitored.
