Some "jewels of the kingdom" have begun moving in: Golden-winged, Nashville, Northern Parula, Yellow, Yellow-rumped, Bay-breasted, Black & White, Ovenbird, Northern Waterthrush - no waves, but 1-4 individuals of each at Mahnomen Trail (Sherburne NWR, accessible off CR 9) and Pioneer Park (northern part of Princeton).
First Tanager of the season showed up as well over lunch hour: a "no-see-um" with some differences in song (how can something so red avoid visual detection!) - more melodious, more notes, very little "hoarse" component - possible Summer, but my audio simply isn't sure. Even after listening to both back at the office. Sigh. Vireos arriving as well. First wrens. Couple of Bobolinks yesterday. 39 year birds in the last few days. Love May!
