Yesterday (Wednesday) when I headed out to try and find the Catbird reported by Jim Ryan (I was not successful) I found a Northern Shrike near Old Crystal Bay Road and Deer Run Trail in Orono. Today, I observed another Northern Shrike land on the grain elevator in Farmington.
Also today I observed a falcon fly over the old model T factory (the Ford Building) near the Target Center. It was most likely a Peregrine, although it looked small and its call was higher pitched than my tape. I have seen a Merlin in this area, but not this year.
