As evidence of this winter's mild temperatures and relatively little snow cover, Sharp-tailed Grouse were in full display this morning on 2 Aitkin County leks, something I certainly have never seen before in January. One of these (with 3 males) was on the W side of Co Rd 31 / Kestrel Ave, 1.6 mi N of Tamarack; a larger lek (with 9 males) was on the E side of Co Rd 16, 0.4 mi S of Tamarack. - Kim Eckert
