Hello all, Sorry this is a day late. I spent the weekend at Park Rapids birding in Itasca S.P. on Saturday and southern Hubbard Co. on Sunday. Present at Bert's Cabins in ISP were 2 Gray Jays, a flock of 9 WW Crossbills, many BC Chickadees, WB and RB Nuthatches, and 1 Evening Grosbeak.
Along the Crow Wing River between the 5th and 4th Crow Wing lakes there are about 800-1000 Canada Geese, 100 Mallards, and at least 90 Trumpeter Swans. Counting was difficult as the wind chill was -20F. This stretch has been winter home to similar numbers of Trumpeters over the past few years. Good Birding!
