February 26, 2007 With the bad weather, a group that I was leading to NE Minnesota decided to stay home and we birded around the twin cities. Thanks to Alyssa, for all her postings We were able to observe and hear the pair of Carolina Wrens that have been visiting her feeders. We were also able to relocate the Varied Thrush that has been seen in the Highland park area of St. Paul later in the day. Thanks to everyone that has posted on these two species and the updates on the hotline.
American Kestrel - Hyw. 62, just East of the junction with 35W Brown Creeper - observed a single bird at the Carolina Wren location Carolina Wren - 11:40 - Noon - both wrens were observed at the Golden Valley location. They were first heard on the North side of Glenwood Avenue and then observed at the feeders at Alyssa's house on Idaho Ave N. American Robin - 6 were observed at various locations along Edgcumbe Road in St. Paul Varied Thrush - 2:30 - 2:33 pm - All our group got a nice, but fairly short look at the Varied Thrush as it feed on small crab apples in the center median along Edgcumbe Road, between Scheffer Ave and Eleanor Ave. Thanks again to all those who have previously posted information on these two species, Craig Craig Mandel, Minnetonka, MN [email protected]
