A White-faced Ibis is being seen in the extreme south-west corner of Otter Tail County (Western Township).
Directions to the spot: Travel south out of the city of Fergus Falls on CoHwy 15 for approximately 16 miles until the highway intersects with 110th St. (There is a prominent sign reading Rabbit River WPA near this intersection). Then, turn right (west) and travel just a little over 2 miles. On the south side of the road is standing water of suitable Ibis-like habitat. We observed the bird this morning (Monday) from about 8:45 - 9:15, as it actively foraged to within 50 yards of the road. We heard about the Ibis from Steve Millard who heard about the bird's whereabouts from a non-birding friend. Other notable birds in Western Township: Wilson's Phalarope (1 seen by water near the intersection of CoHwy15 and 150th St), Sandhill Crane, Marbled Godwit, Sora, both Yellowlegs, Brewer's Blackbird, Cliff Swallow, and a Canada Goose/nest with 6 eggs within 1 yard of the pavement on CR 112 (if you were to pull off the road, your car would literally straddle the nest).
