Good hour and a half at Springbrook Nature Center this afternoon - just got back. Got thrilled with seeing the cocky Wilson's Warbler and I swear his black hat was cocked a bit to the side. Many Palm Warblers and YRs. All the warblers are in northeast and east woods along the boardwalk through the trees. A male Hooded Merganser was sitting on the edge of a pond along the water boardwalks on the west side. Also saw a Broadwing Hawk (quick look and I hope a good guess) land a dozen yards away from me in a tree, spotted me then took off and soared with those beautiful wings and hearty profile. I think I startled it as much as it startled me.
I did some work on my arbor today and had to drain my bird bath and take down all my feeders. It was comical to have 5 robins standing at the end of the arbor watching me and wondering where their food and bath were. I think I spoil them. Thomas Maiello Spring Lake Park
