Chet Meyers writes: Decided to bird New Germany this afternoon (May 8) and found water levels higher than I have seen in many years. No shorebirds on the traditional ponds, even the pig farm that floods most years was overflowing. Did find two small groups of birds by driving the back roads. Nothing new or special, six common species. Please report any areas in flooded fields that hold shorebirds. They are back, but having trouble finding "shore." Chet Meyers, Hennepin County
