Hello all! We got to Murphy Hanrehan at around 8:30 this morning and drove to the entrance of the marked wood-trail with the gate at the entrance. Things were everywhere at the start of it. Kinglets and White-throated sparrows were all over, and in the bunch of them we spotted 1 Black-throated Green warbler, a Magnolia, and a Black & White. Ovenbirds were screaming throughout the woods as well. We took the trail leading off the the left as you come to the split in the trail. As we walked, I picked out the Hooded Warbler's call from up the trail. We got up there and sure enough, he came right out and said hi. It sounded like there were at least 2 Hooded Warblers later on. At the next split, we took the left trail and spotted a Blue-winged Warbler at the end of it in the start of the field. We turned back then and spotted an Ovenbird singing away in the trees. The Yellow-throated Vireos decided to come out then, and we heard and saw a quite a few. A Blue-gray Gnatcatcher was at the split in the trail, along with a flycatcher we couldn't ID. (It kept flying from hidden spot to hidden spot.) After that, it got quieter, so we walked the loop, seeing a Hermit and a Gray-cheeked Thrush. We went for a quick look at the Pet Trails after that, but it was getting late. All we spotted was our first Rose-breasted Grosbeak, many Yellow Warblers, a Field Sparrow, and some bluebirds. There was also a small snapping turtle lying right on the path going out the lake when you first get there. We also spotted our first American Redstart in the parking lot.
Warblers seem to be coming in! - Leo WM
