An impromptu meeting of about ten birders convened between Pools 4 and 5 at
Carlos Avery NWR to watch an equal number of short-eared owls sally forth over
the marshes. Per usual, the best time is about a half an hour before sunset to
catch the show. See previous posts for directions. Noticeably absent were
rough-legged hawks.
