Bluff Country (driving through Weaver Dunes, then along the "Weaver to Beaver" route into the Whitewater area, with occasional hikes) Sunday: grasshopper, field, song, tree, and chipping sparrows; bald eagles, several; turkey vultures, many; Cooper's hawk (careening over the hood of our vehicle on Hwy 61, in pursuit of food!); terns doing high-dives for fish; great blue and little green herons;tree and cliff swallows in abundance; Canada goslings; killdeer; sandhill crane; ovenbirds; white-throated and white-crowned sparrows; winter wren, heard; E. towhees; rose-breasted grosbeaks (m. and f.), Baltimore orioles; r-c kinglets and b-g gnatcatchers; y-b sapsuckers; hummingbird; yellow-rumped warblers, many; Tennessee warblers, many heard; common yellowthroat heard; also many yellow warblers heard, and seen; redstart; black and white warbler; magnolia warbler; and several blue-winged warblers also checked both Hok-si-la and the 140th St. marsh, but saw nothing unusual at the time--will check for that mockingbird, soon!
