This morning (5/8) the Willets reported by Joel Claus at Purgatory Creek Wetland in Eden Prairie were still present. There was a single bird at sunrise, but a flock of 11 flew in at 6:40 AM. Unfortunately, the Ruddy Turnstone was not observed. However, there were several other shorebirds including Semipalmated Plovers and Dunlins. Thanks for the heads up, Joel.
About 6:45 AM, a single Cattle Egret in beautiful breeding plumage appeared in the flock of Caspian and Foster Terns on the western mudflat. It only stayed for about 2 minutes before flying off to the west. Great way to start a work day! Howard Towle Golden Valley, MN
