Yesterday at Helliksen Prairie WPA in Becker Co., I observed an AMERICAN BITTERN, BOBOLINKS, UPLAND SANDPIPERS, MARSH and SEDGE WRENS, and LeCONTE'S SPARROW. Flushed COMMON SNIPE and CLAY-COLORED SPARROW off their nests. There are a number of prairie plants in bloom, including SMALL WHITE LADY'S SLIPPER, LEADPLANT, BIRD'S FOOT VIOLET, ALUM ROOT, HOARY PUCCOON, and PRAIRIE SMOKE.
