Today my Dad and I went birding in Aitkin County. We had a singing Yellow
Breasted Chat at Rice Lake National Wildlife Refuge look to the previously
posted directions by Peder. While listening to the Chat I saw a weird duck fly
out of a marsh directly ahead of us. This is a short description as it flew
away quickly, so unfortunatley a brief look. A large duck with broad white
upper wing patch that extended from wingtip to wingtip. The bird was very dark,
it trailed its feet behind it as it flew. It flew off to north quickly and
could not be refound. We broke a 100 species for the day so a good day. Good
birding to all. Again the duck flew out of the marsh directley past the trees
which are behind the brown sign saying service vechiles only. Your comments
