Had a probable Buff-breasted Sandpiper near Little Bluestem Pool on Sherburne Refuge's Auto Tour this morning at 9:15 AM.
The "probable" is due to the short duration of the sighting and distance from the road, but physical characteristics (buffy chest & abdomen, slender Mourning Dove but smaller look), habitat and time of year all fit. It flew into the the flats obscured by taller grass, leaving me to scope the 3,189.5 Killdeer(s) in a vain hope of its return. Good birding to all!
