today I volunteered for the MOU booth at the state fair. It was a lot of fun and we had several people who were really interested in birding. I saw almost no birds, a couple of rock pigeons, a couple of common yellow-throats at the moose pond, and a chimney swift heard overhead. The most interesting bird was seen as I was leaving. As I walked out the main gate on Snelling Avenue, a Coopers Hawk flew into the tree on Snelling right by gate above the throngs of people waiting to cross the street. I wouldn't be surprised it I was the only one of several hundred within a couple of hundred feet who saw the hawk.
