This afternoon around 4:30 I found a late Henslow's Sparrow at Cobb River Waterfowl Production Area in south central Blue Earth County. To get there, go south from Mankato on Hwy. 22 to the town of Beauford. In Beauford, take a left onto CR 10, which will take you east. From CR 10, go south on 355th St., which I think is the first right that you come to going east on 10. Follow 355th south for a mile and you will come to a large grassland/wetland area on your left (east). There is a large brown FWS sign for Cobb River WPA at the first parking area on your left. Drive south of this one to the second parking area; it was here where I found the bird in the prairie about 20 yards out from the fence line. It was the only sparrow that I saw in that part of the prairie.
This is by far the latest I have seen a Henslow's Sparrow in the fall. Bob Dunlap, Nicollet County
