I birded 2 spots in Golden Valley today (General Mills Nature Preserve and General Mills Natural Area) in Hennepin County. Highlights included a single Northern Shrike, a flock of about 5 E. Bluebirds, and a flock of about 7 Rusty Blackbirds. Birds seen recently in the area includes a pair of Fox Sparrows, a singing Purple Finch, Pileated Woodpeckers, and an uncommon abundance of R-B Nuthatches. This has definitely been turning out to be a good winter for the nuthatches. Good birding-
