Today, Sat. Nov. 10, on Lake Bemidji, there was a good flight of ducks of all kinds. At the inlet of the Mississippi in with a large flock of goldeneyes was a White-winged Scoter with a few Scaup, fortunately, as well. On the east side of the lake from the state bike trail along the east shore there were large flocks of Bufflehead and Common Mergansers and one Surf Scoter. I found no sick or dying diving ducks despite a fairly thorough search along the east shore of the lake, although the numbers were very low for this time of year, especially with the strong favorable winds from the last few days.
