Immature Goshawk (nice looks at the perched bird along the access road from about 20 feet this morning), Ann Lake/Sand Dunes (Sherburne County, just off CR 5). Neither the Solitaire (typical for it to be occasional over the last four years, usually seen once in every three or four visits) nor Bohemian Waxwings were present (many Cedars, but flock was down 1/3 or so).
Also drove around portions of Sherburne Refuge this morning, rather quiet (single Rough-legged, four Bald Eagles, normal winter fare) - if unusual winter finches have irrupted in the area (Mille Lacs or Sherburne Counties), haven't found them yet. Good birding to all! Al Schirmacher Princeton, MN Mille Lacs & Sherburne Counties
