After the pleasant surprise of the cooperative snowy owl at the airport this
afternoon, there's been another unexpected happening, at the birdbath: the
rampant splashing of some sparrows in the bath drew attention to a robin
guzzling water. I can't recall ever having one in the yard in December. I'm
wondering if it means an imminent change in temperature...and if maybe I
should put out some apple halves. Has anyone done that in winter with good
results?
