Spent the day birding in the Sax/Zim bog with Conny Brunell and Susan
Schumacher. Here are some of the species we observed there today.
Roughed Grouse
Northern Hawk Owl - Cr 7, 7/10ths of a mile North of CR 28 (Sax Road) - 3:00 -
3:30 pm
American Three-toed Woodpecker - MacDavitt Road (CR 213) - 2.7 miles North of
the Sax Road - 1:00 - 1:30 pm
One female bird was observed
at this location.
Black-backed Woodpecker - Same location and time as the American Three-toed
Woodpecker sighting. Two female Black-backed Woodpeckers
were observed there as well.
Black-billed Magpie - One bird was observed along Cranberry Lane, just North of
the Sax Road about 2;00 pm and Two birds were observed
around 9:00 am on the North end of the Blue Spruce
Road (CR 211).
Snow Buntings - CR 7, about 1/2 mile South of the Sax Road.
The following species were observed at the feeding Station on Blue Spruce Road
from 8;30 - 9:00 am.
Black-capped Chickadee
White-breasted Nuthatch
Pine Grosbeak
Common Redpoll
Hoary Redpoll
Evening Grosbeak
Craig Mandel
