Had a great time birding this weekend with Dave Bartkey, Jerry Bonkoski and
John and Chris Hockema. On Sunday, The N Hawk-Owl was at the same location
reported previously in January and February (ie, Cty Rd 73, 1.5 miles W of 8).
There are several breaks in the trees providing wide views of the bog on the
north side of the road, and I would recommend scanning the area with a scope.

Other goodies from the weekend:

Saturday (just me & Dave):
2 Varied Thrushes relocated (Princeton & Duluth feeders, see hotline reports)
2 Boreal Chickadees (Blue Spruce Rd & Duuluth feeders, see hotline reports)
1 game of chicken on Blue Spruce Rd with 6 dogs, each larger than my tiny Honda
Insight, no joke.
4 Northern Shrikes, 1 each in Scott, Anoka, Carlton & St Louis Counties

We missed the Sci Mus Solitaire, Duluth Mockingbird & Red-bellied Woodpecker.

Sunday (Cass County):
1 N Shrike at Hawk-Owl spot
1 Red-bellied Woodpecker at feeder in northern Cass County
Lots of Common Redpolls and Pine Grosbeaks
Bohemian Waxwings in Remer

We checked spots in Cass County, previously productive for Boreal Chickadees,
and northern woodpeckers to no avail. We were also disappointed in missing
Gray jays and Magpies in Cass County.

A great weekend!
