I spent a little time at the Audubon Center of the Northwoods near Sandstone
today. I saw 6 Red Crossbills in the pines along Fox Road directly across from
the bird observation blind and heard Sandhill Cranes from there as well. A
nice April combo.
Also, migrants seen along the way between Grand Rapids and Sandstone include: 3
Northern Harriers, 3 Turkey Vultures, 1 Great Blue Heron, 4 Trumpeter Swans, a
flock of Dark-eyed Juncos, 1 American Robin, several Hooded Mergansers, and a
Rough-legged Hawk. Shawn Conradhttp://users.2z.net/itasca_chippewa_birding/
