At Ritter Farm Park (Lakeville) this morning, there were 5 horned grebes, along with several other species on the big lake: loon, ring-billed ducks, lesser scaup, Great egret, blue-wing teal, coots, mallards, and Canada geese. Also present in the park were pie-billed grebes, bald eagles, tree swallows, kildeer, red-wing blackbirds; song, field, and chipping sparrows; cowbirds; downy, hairy, red-bellied and Pileated woodpeckers; y-b sapsuckers, bluebirds, cardinals, goldfinches, robins; chickadees, wb nuthatch, brown creeper, E. phoebe, both kinglets, y-r warbler; and FOY palm warblers. Thee was one fly-over by a sandhill crane.
A check of Bass Ponds this afternoon found no avocets, but there were a few greater yellow-legs and many pelicans, and a couple of palm warblers now added to birds mentioned in earlier posts about this site.
