Today I saw 1 ruddy turnstone and 4 semipalmated plovers at a small sand pit off the new Tomahawk Rd southeast of Ely in the Superior National Forest. Quite a shock to see in the middle of the forest! They were probably forced down by the drizzly, foggy weather.
