8/9/08 7:30am Mark Ochs and I found 11 species of shorebird at Purgatory Creek, visibile from the east side. These included:
Baird's Sandpiper (2 juv) Wilson's Phalarope (juv) Stilt Sandpiper (juv) Expected but missed - Solitary Sandpiper, Greater Yellowlegs Also, to my knowledge, Dakota County is almost devoid of shorebird habitat, the best habitat probably being at the Vermilion River backwater area on Ravenna Trail in Hastings, locally called "Frog Pond".
