The wetlands on the east side of Hwy. 4 just north of the MN River in extreme western Nicollet County are very productive right now. There are extensive mudflats surrounding the water, and there is plenty of water present, so this spot should stay good for a while yet. Present this morning were:
Semipalmated Plover Killdeer Spotted Sandpiper Greater Yellowlegs Lesser Yellowlegs Solitary Sandpiper Semipalmated Sandpiper Least Sandpiper Baird's Sandpiper Pectoral Sandpiper Stilt Sandpiper Short-billed Dowitcher Wilson's Snipe Well over 100 individuals were present. Some of the birds were closer to the highway, while some of the birds were a bit distant towards the eastern end of the wetlands. Bob Dunlap, Nicollet County bobthebirdman.blogspot.com
