A frequently steady stream of Common Nighthawk made their way through Clearwater and Beltrami counties today. Most were headed due west, some west- southwest. None vocalized and all were intent on covering ground, not feeding. Highs today in the low 60's. The strong winds we have been enduring the past few days have subsided, opening a window for a flood of anxious migrants. Hummingbirds are consuming prodigious amounts of nectar, up to a half gallon per day from nine feeders. The yard and gardens sound like an apiary. There are to many sets of emerald wings to count.
