This morning I found that the recent rainfall had raised the Vermillion River to a level covering the mudflats that were at C.R. 18 and Sturgeon L. Road at the southern end of Prairie Island. Just a few Least Sandpipers and Killdeer were frequenting this spot. This situation also basically applies to the Vermillion R. backwaters at the east end of Hastings, Dakota Co.
