Saw two adult whooping cranes in the company of eighteen sandhill cranes flying south at 4:30 PM Sunday, September 7 in Athens Township, Isanti County, two miles due west of Cedar Creek Reserve. They were all very high in the air...I would guess well over a mile, gliding with the air currents and moving fast. The sighting lasted about sixty seconds, and then they faded from view.
