Unfortunately, that possible Pacific Golden-Plover sighting in Duluth at the 40th Ave West Erie Pier area still remains just a possibility. After Peder Svingen, Dale Yerger, and others refound a golden-plover this afternoon that appeared to have the plumage and vocal characteristics of a Pacific (presumably the one I saw/heard earlier in the day), it was flushed by a Merlin and never relocated. (A golden- plover of possible interest was located later, and it was studied by many observers for a long time before we determined that it was just an American Golden-Plover, and probably not the individual seen earlier.)
If there are any additional sightings of the bird tomorrow, that of course would be posted on mou-net ASAP. Kim Eckert
