While counting dickey birds at Hawk Ridge this morning, I heard the distintive
rattle of a single Smith's Longspur flying by but didn't get on the bird until
it was flying away. Passerine migration continues to be heavy: a total of 3924
non-raptors were seen today including 2853 American Robins, while a total of
7316 non-raptors were seen yesterday including 75 Snow Geese, 4 Black-backed
Woodpeckers, 4807 American Robins, and 1334 Rusty Blackbirds.
