Beginning tomorrow, the 75th annual Federal Duck Stamp art contest will take place at the Bloomington Art center. The art is on display from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Friday and 9 a.m to 2 p.m on Saturday. The opening ceremony will begin at 10 a.m. Friday with preliminary judging to begin at 10.30; final judging occurs on Saturday at 10 a.m. and the winnrer will be announced around 1 p.m. There are 270 entries with 40 Minnesota artists represented (!!). Five species of waterfowl are portrayed including Northern Shoveler, Brant (including Black Brant), Canada Goose, Ruddy Duck, and the Long-tailed Duck (formerly known as Oldsquaw). This is only the second time in modern times that the duck stamp has occurred outside Washington so for a once in a generation chance to see this exciting contest come on down to Bloomington and buy some duck stamps for conservation.
