This afternoon around 1pm from the paved parking lot on the NW side of Lake Nokomis in Minneapolis, Hennepin County I enjoyed watching a Merlin hunt. Several times it took off swiftly from a perched position along the outside edge treeline making brief forays with a burst of speed and rapid aerial maneuvers to turn on a dime and return to another exposed perch. It was fun to watch and after a few passes it contined around the lake.
