With the one hour time delay for sunrise, I walked the Blue Mound Trail in
dawn, able
to start bird sighting at 6:45am, by 7:04am located the Black-Backed Woodpecker
on the northern edge of the spruce plantation (where the trail goes right
toward
the edge of Buck Lake). It was about 100 yards w. down along the firebreak
where
some trees are tipped over, others with the typical scaling flakes of this
bird's
presence. mjb
