The MN Breeding Bird Atlas is a 5-year state-wide breeding bird survey and it
is starting soon - in spring 2009. It is the most comprehensive bird survey
ever conducted in MN. This project will require hundreds of surveyors to
document breeding status for all species observed within selected areas in
2400+ townships. If you are interested in learning more about being a
volunteer atlas surveyor, just send your name and the area of the state you are
interested in and I will contact you by reply.

Also, to manage an effort of this size, the state is divided into 32 regions
and each region needs a volunteer coordinator, or coordination team, to keep
the project on track. If you, or a small regional team, are knowledgeable
about local birds and their habitats, can recruit and support surveyors, and
are comfortable working with data online, contact me for more information.
