Following up on Bernice Hall's report (12-28-08) of 15+ Eurasian Collared-Doves
in Stewart, MN, McLeod Cty. (US Hwy. 212, about 15 mi. west of Glencoe)---
refound at least 10 EC Doves on the sunny south side of the elevators in the
middle of town along Prior St., flying back and forth from the elevator ladders
and ironwork to the ground by the train tracks to the trees just south along
the residential Power Street.
(has anyone seen this many in one place before?)
Also today, 12-31-08, along McLeod Cty. roads, in farm groves, and wildlife
management areas:
*Snow Buntings (flock of 30+)
*Lapland Longspurs (flocks of 18 and 26)
*Redpolls (40+)
*Barred Owl
*E. Screech Owl
(both soaking in the sunshine in farm groves)
*Red-tailed Hawks (2)
*Am. Tree Sparrows
Not too bad for the last day of 2008 @ --6 degrees in farm country.

Pete Hoeger, Hutchinson
