At 10:30am today, from I-494, Laura and I witnessed something one doesn't normally see on January 1st in the Twin Cities - a WATER SKIER being towed in circles at the small opening in the main river channel at the east outlet of Black Dog Lake. No, this was not an alcohol/hangover-induced aberration on our part...but I'm not so certain about the motivation of the water skier.
